The Wheatsheaf Public House (left) is situated in the lovely Essex village of Writtle. The Wheatsheaf is one of the premier pubs in the village and what it lacks in size it makes up in atmosphere.

Hours of Business:

Monday to Thursday 

11.00 am  to 2.30pm
5.30pm to 11.00 pm
Friday
11.00 am  to 3.00pm
5.30pm to 11.00 pm

 Sunday
12.00 am to 10.30 pm

The 3rd Friday of the month is acoustic music night when we may open a little later

Beverages

The Wheatsheaf is a tied house, part of the family run Gray's group and therefore the beer sold is from various LocAle micro breweries, chiefly Mighty Oak, Farmers, Red Fox, Brentwood Brewing Co. & Wibblers. Main line brews from Sharp’s and GK Abbot.

Lager from Carlsberg,Fosters and Kronenbourg, cider from Stowfords and Aspalls together with various bottled beers.

Tea and coffee are always available.

Food
Fresh rolls and a daily special are available Tuesday to Saturday at Lunch times.




Tony and Barbara O'Boyle came to the Wheatsheaf (February 1998) hot-foot from the Wagon and Horses in Braintree, a pub which they ran for eight years. Prior to  the "Wagon" they had the Ship Inn, at March, Cambridgeshire for five years and have both worked in the trade before.

The Wheatsheaf is a traditional English Pub. It has a regular cliental which ranges from all age groups and professions (builders to Doctors) with a smattering of eccentrics.
